Hello World,

I have just returned from the Locarno Triathlon where the wind blew, the rain poured and I did my very best for the children of India. Mummy says it certainly wasn’t a walk in the park but I know that already because I ran as fast as my legs would let me.

All of us children were allowed a grown up with us so we didn’t get confused or run off in the wrong direction because it was confusing with so many of them shouting out our names. Uncle William was my triathlon buddy but Daddy said I had a bigger team of helpers at each changeover point than Jenson Button at any of his pit stops.

We all got very wet but at the end we were given a bag with a T-shirt, hat and cookie in it for finishing our triathlon. Uncle Will said he was very jealous because they didn’t have a T-shirt big enough for him and he had completed the race, too. I think he was hoping for a bite of my cookie, but then so was my brother Jack.

Afterwards, the rest of the Push Team completed their triathlon for VITAL which took another day. Vonny was the best, though, because she had a bad leg and still completed her swim, cycle and run.

But at the end I got the best prize of all – Uncle Andy told me the best story in the world about dragons that went on forever!

So Mummy says that all I have to do now is thank all of you who have donated to the children. And to ask anyone who hasn’t to just give a little amount if you can afford it. Oh, and she says that I’ve done my very best, so can you do your very best, too!

My name is Harry.

And I am 3 years old.

Hello World,

Back from my holidays just in time to compete in my own garden Olympics.

Grandma sent me a picture of the torch as it sailed past her balcony but Mummy said I couldn’t light one of my own. Spoilsport!

A clear round on my horse gave me a gold but Mummy said it didn’t count because there was no-one else taking part – so I couldn’t have a Mini Magnum for a prize. When I explained to Daddy that I was disappointing the dragons and pirates who had also been taking part, he said Mummy’s word was law. But he slipped me a Fruit Shoot as he thought that perhaps my horse was thirsty and we must always look after our animals.

While I was away, I perfected jumping into the swimming pool without my armbands. Mummy said I must try not to do it in the deep end as she may not always be there to fish me out.

And at last I have a bike with stabilisers. I am practising each day but it is hard remembering to point the bike and turn round the pedals at the same time. And then I forget I am using the breaks when I am pedaling hard – so I don’t move at all. It is very complicated.

Daddy and the big boys at the studio will be joining me at The Locarno Triathlon to raise more money for VITAL. Last year they built a well for the children in Kolkata but we need a lot more money this year to grow the school. Wish me luck and please help my friends in India.

My name is Harry.

Hello World,

School is over and I’m sad even though I’m on holiday for the summer. That’s because I won’t see Murray and Abraham until September They are my best school friends. But when I see them again, I will have had my big race in Switzerland and will have lots of adventures to tell them about.

Mummy has suggested that we keep a scrapbook diary together so that I remember everything that I will have done – but that sounds like work and I like playing best of all.

Last week we had a VITAL stand at the Summer Fair in Mayfair to raise money for the children. Lucy and Mia were selling bottles of water but it was also dropping out of the sky so nobody wanted to buy any. They should have been selling hot tea which comes from India, like the children, which grown-ups like. I like Fruit Shoots or milk. So does Cecelia who was at the Summer Fair, too, except her tooth fell out when she was taking the top off her Fruit Shoot. She didn’t mind because it meant the Tooth Fairy was coming to visit her that night to leave something nice under her pillow.

Because it was cold, not many people wanted the choc ices either. But when Mithra gave them away (he says charity begins at home), everyone wanted them!

Hello World,

On Saturday I went swimming. I can now easily swim the length of the big pool with my armbands but my little brother Jack thinks that he can just jump into the water without them. My Mummy says that one day he will be a little fish because he is fearless. I say he will be a big whale because he eats so much.

Even in the water Jack follows me around. Mum says I should look after him but she doesn’t understand. I bet she doesn’t spoil Daddy’s games.

On Sunday it was Father’s Day and I gave Daddy a card that I made with Amy. We went to visit Grandpa because he is Daddy’s daddy.

When I went onto Grandma’s terrace to feed the ducks below, I saw that her watering can was broken, so I mended it. She was so pleased that she said she would buy me a bike with stabilisers because she said that time was running out – it’s only 70 days to my big competition. I had to tell her that it was me who was running – me and some big boys – but she said that time races by, too.  I asked her, when you boil an egg, who wins – the egg or the timer? She said neither – just the little boy who eats the egg. She said that most of the little children in India are starving and someone called Mother Teresa said that happiness is a bowl of rice. But all children prefer ice cream to eggs and rice. Silly Grandma!

Later I got hot and poor-poor so Mummy let me rest in the cool on the sofa with Teddy and watch CBeebies without Jack. Lucky me!

My name is Harry.

And I am 3 years old.

Hello World,

On Sunday I made everybody happy. I spelt my name, H-A-R-R-Y. I can now do this because I go to school. Someone said, "Bright as a button!" That's silly because buttons are nothing to do with spelling. Perhaps they meant counting – I can do that, too.

My brother Jack is 1 and he can't speak yet so they don't know how clever he is. Last week, at the Jubilee Party in London, it was Jack who remembered that Grandma kept her necklaces in her teapot when we were looking for pirates' treasure. Grandma said they were only paste but that was silly, too. If they were paste they would be sticky like the stuff I use with Amy to make pictures with sparkle and paper and things.

Daddy says that learning will be one of the most important things in my life for a very long time but I prefer playing at the moment. He says that I am running this race in September because it's also very important for children everywhere in the world. And the money that people send will make a little school into a larger school so that more children can learn. Then one day they can become doctors and accountants because they work so hard  – and they won't be poor any more, or sleep on the streets.

I would quite like to be Batman when I grow up. Or just in September when I run this race and swim and things. That's because Batman has muscles and can fly through the air. When I put my Batman outfit on, I can run much faster, except it is difficult to see with my mask on.

Mummy says that we may have a problem with the bicycle ride, though. I have a scooter but I don't have a big boys bike yet – just one without pedals. She says that if we stick to our training, we may even be able to ride one in time – and if not, they can always glue me onto the seat of a bike.

I'm not sure, but I think she is joking.

My name is Harry.

And I am 3 years old.

Hello World,

On Sunday I went to visit Grandma and see the Queen. I put on my Union Jack T-shirt and travelled to London with Mummy, Daddy and my brother Jack.
It was wet and everyone had umbrellas and flags and were very happy.

Grandma lives next to the ducks and the seagulls so we could stand on her balcony and watch all the boats go by.

Downstairs Grandpa and Grandma’s special friend Vonny – who helps the poor children in Kolkata where Ravi lives – put up a tent with sad pictures of boys and girls. And sold cup-cakes and doughnuts and water and ice cream for VITAL, to feed all the  children in India who couldn’t see the Queen like Jack and me.  Vonny even sold her own cup of tea for charity.

Upstairs there were lots of boys and girls and my cousins Robin and Woody, whose real name is Edward, and we played running around. When we all bounced up and down on Grandma’s bed she didn’t understand I was training for my BIG RACE and she stopped us. And she wasn’t happy when we took all of her jewels out of her drawers to play pirate treasure. Later, someone broke the bridle on her old rocking horse, but she said she could mend it.

Then all the boats came and we waved our flags but we couldn’t see the Queen. Mummy said she had gone below for a cup of tea because she was so cold.
We saw Princess Anne in a little boat and Kate and Wills. And Harry who has the same name as me but he is big.

Then everyone went home and we stayed for a bath and got into our jim jams. Vonny phoned to say that we had collected £1400 for the Kolkata children which seemed a lot of money. And I asked Daddy whether Vonny had sold her cup of tea to the Queen, because she has lots of money and crowns and things.

Hello World,

This is my first public appearance!

Grandma says we've all been put on this earth for a reason and we'd better make sure it's a good one. Personally, I'd like to be a pirate, but she says I have to go to Somalia for that and I don't want to ever leave my Mummy and Daddy.

So here I am in training for A BIG CAUSE. Mum says it is a VITAL thing I'm doing, but I haven't quite got my head around that. (She also says it's vital that I eat my lunch, tidy my toys and work hard at my new school, so I'm not sure I like the sound of that.)

Here's the thing. In September I'm going to take part in a triathlon in Lacarno, in Switzerland. A bit of swimming and splashing around, a ride on my bike and a race against some big boys.

Dad's doing it too, and mum says he's become fanatical about getting into shape, but she says she loves me just the way I am.

They say I'm raising money for children in Kolkata (a long way away) who have NOTHING. No water, no dinosaurs, Toy Story or Peter Pan. Not even dragons! And often no food. I wish they could have mine. Mummy says I can't leave the table till I've eaten mine which makes me cross. But she doesn't know my secret weapon – Jack and Woody. (Jack is my little brother and Woody is the dog. And both of them hoover up my leftovers.)

So why can't the children in Kolkata have my food, I ask her. She says that if we put it all in a suitcase and took it on a plane, it wouldn't taste very nice when we got there. I saw Jack eying my wasted food in the dog bowl so I think I know what she means.

Here are some pictures of me in training. Actually we were having a barbecue but that was boring – lots of grown-ups standing around talking and drinking. But my cousin James helped me with some boxing. He said it would help me build up my s-t-a-m-i-n-a, just like my lego, a bit at a time.

Grandma gave me a picture of Ravi she took in Kolkata. He's a little boy who lives next to a railway track which is very DANGEROUS. He lives in a tent made of rags and wood and she says he must be my inspiration, whatever that means – but he does look sad and I would like to be his friend. Do you think he likes playing pirates?

By the way, my name is Harry.

And I am 3 years old.
